I'm quite dissappointed in the caliber of reviews here on Newgrounds. Too many times people will allude to certain problems without explaining what was actually wrong, or just leaving comments like "This flash sucks". What good does that do anyone? If you really want to write a negative review, why not take a second and give constructive criticism instead of Bullshit ?
Here are a few tips or writing a better review:
Break down the work into its principle parts and evaluate each. For example, the artwork, good or bad, why, the audio choices, was the song appropriate, would dialog have been better, how do the colors match up, was the setting appropriate, was the plot coherent, if not, why, how could it be better? What would YOU like to see in that work. Believe it or not a few dedicated fans can influence an artists future work.
Don't simply mock the author, maybe they are too close to the work, and they need someone else to point out what could be improved or should be changed, not simply that it sucks. If you worked on a movie for a month +, and be flooded with reviews saying "You suck" "Get off of newgrounds" and a host of other insults. Wouldn't feel too good would it?
You don't need to write an essay, but if you really have a lot to say, say it. Give the author 30 new ideas, maybe they'll incorporate 10, and who loses? They produce a better work, we all enjoy it more, and you're the one who brought that about. Pretty good feeling isn't it?
So do your part to make Newgrounds a better place, don't write a stupid review, show others on the site that you care about the quality of their work, and just ignore spammers and collect the blam points, everyone wins.
